The Game Hacking Village (GHV) is a volunteer-run community space at DEF CON, the world's largest hacker conference. We exist at the intersection gaming culture and security research.
Our Mission
The Game Hacking Village is a community dedicated to game security. In the village, we explore hands-on reverse engineering, modification, and exploition of games across various platforms. We want to make game security accessible, learnable and playable for all skill levels, because we believe that it is a fantastic way for developing an understanding of modern cybersecurity.
The goal of our community is to learn and ultimately increase the security within modern video games. We do not endorse cheating in online games.
Our Story
The Game Hacking Village was founded by a group of security researchers and game enthusiasts in 2024. We first participated in DEFCON 32.
What We Cover !!! DO WE WANT???
From low-level console hardware exploitation to modern anti-cheat bypass research, from classic speedrun glitch hunting to game preservation and server reimplementation — if it involves games and technical depth, it belongs at GHV.
We are not about cheating in live online games. We are about understanding how games work, exploring the ingenuity of the game hacking community.
